DIY Softening Conditioner for Synthetic Hair Wigs: Keep your Wig New for an Year

Synthetic hair wigs are financially friendly and economical. Due to the low cost, synthetic wigs are preferable over human hair wigs. Also, it is easier to maintain synthetic hair wigs. You can keep your synthetic wigs new, soft & shining for a year by the simple & cheap DIY synthetic wig conditioner.

Synthetic wigs tend to lose shape & style after quite some uses because of static electricity or cling. The negative ions accumulate on to the synthetic fibers most frequently in dry environments. Since the synthetic hair wigs have no moisture like human hair these negatively charged ions may cause tangles in the fibers.

Though there are wig care products, shampoos and conditioners specially formulated for synthetic wigs; you can try this DIY softening conditioner to give your synthetic hair wig an extra oomph. This conditioner softens the synthetic fibers and introduce a shine to your wig without weighing the fibers down.

To prepare the conditioner you need fabric softener & water in equal quantities- EQUAL. Mix them in a spray bottle & shake it. Now spray this conditioner lightly at your wig and let it air-dry overnight.


Things to Remember:

  • Do not try to comb or brush synthetic hair wigs whilst they are wet as it may cause shedding of fibers.
  • Use only cold water for synthetic hair wigs
  • Start spraying process by placing the wig in the skin to avoid messy & slippery floor later on
  • Blot the wig lightly in towel to drench the wig off of extra water
