Sweaty Feet? Try these when Wearing Tights with Flats the Next Time to Keep your Feet Fresh all the Day

Temperature is rising that is actually a call to being bare feet. However, women who have to respect the dress codes of their work place or are too shy to flash the skin; prefer to wear thigh high socks and or tights. Unfortunately, in summer most of us sweat which often creates a stinky body odor, affecting our feet the most. Wearing nylon thigh high socks and flats leave your feet smelling funky as the pongy compounds work all day with sweat for bacteria growth. Choosing your thigh high socks wisely can solve half the problem whereas half of the issue is resolved following the solutions below:

Thigh High Socks: Anti-Perspiration Tips for Feet

  1. The key to keep your feet smell fresh all the day is to keep them dry. Avoiding to wear nylon and other synthetic fiber thigh high socks keep your feet breathing. This keep things in order and prevent excessive perspiration.
  2. Exfoliate your heels regularly using a pumice stone. The hard skin at heels need to be removed, since it is a debris of dead skin cells that gets soggy when damp. This provides an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria.
  3. Make sure you don’t wear the same flats two days in a row. Do same for thigh high socks. Let them air dry completely before you choose to wear them again. Alternatively, drop black tea bags in your flats to help absorb the pungent smell.
  4. In case your feet stink badly, bathe them in the water with tea-tree oil. The anti-bacterial properties of tea-tree oil kill the bacteria and keep your feet smooth and fresh.
  5. Wiping your feet with surgical spirit also help eradicating the smell that arises from wearing thigh high socks on a hot day.

Flats and thigh high socks, both are a summer- must have! However, it comes as no surprise that none of these are breathable option for your feet. Of course, you don’t have to say good bye to your favorite summer wardrobe essentials. All you need is a little modification in your lifestyle & an improved hygiene.

Why do My Feet Smell Bad when Wearing Tights/ Thigh High Socks?

Spring has sprung and here is the most genuine problem every woman has to suffer from. Wearing tights or thigh high socks made from synthetic fibers don’t let moisture from feet to evaporate. Furthermore, the lining in the closed shoes also keep the feet sweaty. It is almost unlikely to manage to keep your feet dry thus complete prevention from smelly feet is not possible. However, it can be managed by selecting your tights wisely. Keep the temperature variations in mind when making a purchase.

Why do Tights make Feet Stink?
Sheer tights are largely made of nylon fiber. Nylon and lycra blends are not breathable due to which your feet stay moist. Prolonged moisture facilitate bacteria growth and works to product fatty acids or pongy compounds. It is not only tights that are responsible to make your feet smell bad but are also your shoes. Deal with your shoes & thigh high socks the following way to prevent foul smell rising from your feet.

Dealing with Thigh High Socks & Tights
1. Replace your nylon thigh high socks and tights with cotton. Even though cotton socks are not the complete solution of the problem, they are definitely a better option than nylon. Nylon stockings do not absorb moisture hence your feet stay sweaty and wet. Contrary to nylon tights, cotton tights are breathable. The only problem with cotton is the incapability of holding as much moisture without becoming sodden.

2. It is recommended to replace your thigh high socks every day in spring/summer. Wash your thigh high socks in hottest cycle and rinse them in antiseptic solution, diluted 20 times & let them air dry.
Make sure your thigh high socks are not too tight.

Dealing with your Shoes
1. Shoes are often lined by plastic or synthetic covering that does not let sweat evaporate. Of course, at the end of the day you may find a very strong stinky smell coming from your feet. To prevent this, use shoes insoles and replace them every day.

2. If replacing insoles is not possible, we recommend you wear open toe shoes or stacked/striped sandals with thigh high socks to keep your feet dry.

3. Every couple of weeks, clean the inside of your shoes suing the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner to help remove the old dried sweat. You can also clean your shoes using surgical spirit that is easily available at pharmacies.

4. Try to alternate your shoes every other day. Let them dry completely before you wear them again.

Thigh high socks and tights are essential element of your Spring/Summer wardrobe. They help you mix and match and let you build a layered or structured outfit. Wearing nylons may be a problem in summer, but there are always the other options to check out. With these measures above, we are hopeful you will manage to keep your feet hygienically dry! Alternatively, you can also use an anti-perspiring deodorant to make sure your feet smell floral ;)

Look Classic yet Cute with Black Tights

Tights are vogue these days. They help you build a layered outfit, add colors to your wardrobe or help you look classic for formal occasions. Tights are versatile & depending on the color & pattern, these can be donned from school to office & parties. Black thigh high socks that are sheer yet patterned add class to your persona. They hug your legs closely and tend to make them a bit slimmer.

"These black stockings are made out of two different fabrics. Nylon is used for the top part, which is transparent, and the stocking part is made of thicker cotton-ish fabric. They also stretch quite a lot, so they are perfect for tall girls! I'm 170cm tall and I could've stretched them up more", says Lokeva in her product review.

What are Tights, Thigh High Stockings & Pantyhose?

Tights, pantyhose & thigh high stockings are all under garments used to cover the legs. Oftentimes they are interchangeable yet carry certain differences that help each of them maintain their individuality. Since unlike leggings, these are worn underneath other garments; they provide sheer coverage. There is almost no difference between tights & pantyhose since they are just the different terms for the same thing. Similarly, thigh high stockings are same as thigh high socks that may sometime also require garter belts for support.

Thigh High Socks or Stockings

Thigh high socks or thigh high stockings come in two variants. Some of them require suspender belts whereas others have a sticky end or silicone base that help them adhere to your thighs. Thigh high stockings are commonly known as a hose. These are close-fitting under garments that cover toes and reach thighs.

Tights & Pantyhose
Tights & Pantyhose are elastic undergarment that extends from waist to toes. Pantyhose also provides a sheer pant-y support whereas tights do not. There is basically no major difference between the both. “Pantyhose” is a term used in United States, whereas in UK they are called tights.

The distinctive feature is the material. Tights are comparatively heavier and opaque. They are made from knitting-material or fish-net whereas pantyhose is almost transparent and made from nylon or nylon blends. Furthermore, tights are one one piece whereas stockings are two-piece hosiery legs where pant-y portion is often heavier and thicker in transparency than legs. On the other hands tights are of the uniform weight and opacity.

What should be your choice?
Depending on your lifestyle, you should wisely make a selection. Thigh high socks can be worn with mid-length skirts whereas pantyhose & tights both are worn at formal events and occasions. Tights are a modern day invention and pantyhose seems to be a “grandma” clothing. Tights enjoy privilege over pantyhose because they provide ventilation in the crotch area whereas pantyhose covers the genitalia too tightly that develops bacteria growth, perspiration and bad odor.

If you are into sheer pieces of under-clothing that keep you warm despite providing coverage to legs, go for tights that provide coverage from waist to toe. They hug your legs closely and appear as a second skin, add colors to your outfit and help building a layered ensemble. Keep in mind, despite certain differences all the terms are interchangeable depending on the contexts. They are even generally called leggings though leggings are footless but rest are not.

Is There a Difference Between Tights & Leggings?

Stockings or Tights

There is a very thin border line between both the counterparts. Leggings and tights are often interchangeable but yet must not be confused with each other. To be precise, leggings and tights vary in fabric & length. Some distinctive features help identifying between leggings and tights. For instance, tights are usually footed and are worn underneath other garments whereas leggings are foot-less that may also serve as pants and can be worn on their own. Therefore when choosing between the two, always take note of transparency and feet.

1. Fabric Quality
Leggings are made from thicker fabric that provides structure to one’s legs. Contrary to this, tights are made from sheer fabric; usually with cotton or nylon blends. Tights are more like thigh high socks and thus should be worn underneath other garments such as skirts. They are only worn in shoes, whereas leggings are chosen when people are looking for a modest piece of clothing that could provide coverage & structure without risking the style.

2. Length
Tights cover toe till waist. On the other hand, leggings vary in length. They are either ankle-length or calf-length. Tights take the place of socks whereas with leggings people need to wear socks separately. This is why, tights are considered one of the most necessary clothing item when you are into layering your outfits.

3. Function & Structure
The most important element that keeps the difference maintained is how they are worn. Leggings are less frequently seen whereas tights are more welcoming. Tights are considered playful & multi-functional as they don’t only add style & color to your outfit but also keep you warm. They are worn at offices and at formal gatherings underneath other garments whereas leggings on the other hand are more casual thus are worn at gyms.

Leggings have their own structure, whereas tights just like socks get a shape only when they are worn. Though like leggings tights hug your legs closely; they provide an elongated shape to your legs depending on the pattern & style. Leggings, however fail in this regard and maintain their own structure even when worn. Since they are excellent at providing coverage, they are also worn alone as pants. On the other hand, no matter how opaque are your tights they will still reflect skin from underneath, especially at the buttocks; to cover which you need skirts and or tunics etc.

4. Fit & Care
Tights are like second skin- sheer & delicate
Tights and leggings both are fitted clothing. Tights need gentle care & handling whereas leggings need no special laundry requirements. Due to them being interchangeable at most places, it is often hard to recognize if someone is wearing tights or leggings. If you are really picky about what you are getting, read the label for a deeper insight. It all depends upon how a manufacturer markets their products. As a general rule of thumb; remember tights are footed, delicate & transparent.

How to Store/Organize Thigh High Socks: Prevent your Socks from Losing the Stretch

Thigh high socks are women’s prized possessions. They are an essential need of every winter outfit and are luxurious to compliment your summer/spring ensemble. Thigh high socks that bunch up or fall down reflect a disastrous wardrobe malfunction that should be addressed right away. You can put the responsibility of this unflattering sight partially on the low quality thigh high socks and partially on your storage habits. If your socks keep falling down, here are the two steps you should immediately take.

A) Buy Top Quality Cotton Thigh High Socks

Thigh high socks are available in variety. Some thigh high socks are equipped with a silicone band whereas others are elastic. This does not necessarily indicate that silicone is better than elastic or vice versa. There are various qualities depending on the denier of thigh high socks that matter. Invest in high quality over-the-knee socks than wasting money on cheap-ers.

B) Organize Thigh High Socks like a Pro
Organizing thigh high socks appropriately is essential to keep your socks in nice shape. Throwing them poorly, rolling them like a ball or tossing them off in your washer can make your socks lose their elasticity. Organize your thigh high socks in a neat way, so that your best pair is at hand even when you are running short of time. Storing thigh high socks the way they demand keep them in mint condition.

1. Store them in Draw Organizers

These draw organizers are easily available. They are partitioned spaciously. Draw organizers keep delicate clothing accessories and lingerie in safe condition. Roll, fold or stack up your luxurious thigh highs in specific compartments until you need them again.

2. Hanging Closet Pockets

There are various pockets closets available online and in your local market. When choosing hanging pockets for keeping thigh highs, it is important that your hanging closet pockets are large enough to contain your long socks. They save space in your closet and prevent tangling of socks with other clothing accessories. Hanging closet pockets make your socks readily approachable and prevent your socks going orphan.

3. Draw String Bags

This option is for women with a high sense of luxury and beauty. Draw string bags may be simple or embroidered- you may choose as per your own liking. From delicate sequin embellishment to simple hand-work; drawstring bags are available to serve both customers with low budget and heavy. Draw string bags keep thigh high socks perfectly stored and keep them new forever.

Thigh high socks need care and attention at every stage. Even when they are soiled and you cue them up for a session of laundry, it is wise to keep them in a mesh bag than just tossing them carelessly in the basket.
